Somewhere in the Middle…

November 11, 2010

So, I really enjoyed the passage we looked at last night.  it was a great challenge to me personally, and seems very applicable to our youth group.  I’m still pretty excited about the passage this morning as I’m trying to work on my paper.  I’m hiding in the library with my iPod earbuds in, and this song (which many of you prob know) comes on…

Somewhere In The Middle

Somewhere between the hot and the cold, omewhere between the new and the old,

Somewhere between who I am and who I used to be, somewhere in the middle You’ll find me,

Somewhere between the wrong and the right, somewhere between the darkness and light,

Somewhere between who I was, and who You’re making me, somewhere in the middle You’ll find me,

Just how close can I get Lord to my surrender without losing all control?

Fearless warriors in a picket fence, wreckless abandon wrapped in common sense,

Deep water faith in the shallow end, We are caught in the middle,

With eyes wide open to the diff’rences; the God we want and the God who is,

But will we trade our dreams for His, or are we caught in the middle?

Well are we caught in the middle?

Somewhere between my heart and my hands, somewhere between my faith and my plans,

Somewhere between the safety of the boat and the crashing waves,

Somewhere between a whisper and a roar, somewhere between the altar and the door,

Somewhere between contented peace and always wanting more, somewhere in the middle You’ll find me,

Just how close can I get Lord to my surrender without losing all control?

Fearless warriors and a picket fence, wreckless abandon wrapped in common sense,

Deep water faith in the shallow end, We are caught in the middle,

With eyes wide open to the diff’rences; the God we want and the God who is,

But will we trade our dreams for His, or are we caught in the middle?

Lord I feel You in this place, and I know You’re by my side,

Loving me even on these nights when I’m caught in the middle,

I’m caught in the middle.

This is a pretty powerful reminder!  What are we living for?  Are we living life for the things Jesus gave His for?  Am I living to promote myself or my God and His Gospel?

What are we doing to keep our focus on Him and His Gospel?  Are you in His Word today?  Are you listening to music that points you back to Him?

Just a thought…  keep praying that God changes our hearts to be more like His!

NLT Matthew 20:28

For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
